The town of Greenest was founded by the halfling Dharva Scatterheart, a rogue who fancied herself the queen of the Greenfields. Scatterheart passed away without ever achieving that level of eminence, but her town grew into a thriving community. Its success isn’t surpising, since Greenest is the only town of any size astride the Uldoon Trail, the most direct road between the eastern cities of the Dragon Coast, Cormyr, and Sembia with the Coast Way running south to the great cities of Amn, Tethyr, and far Calimshan. The trade catavans that pass through Greenest bring gold to the town’s merchants and craftsfolk, and Governor Tarbaw Nighthill runs the town at the behest of the inhabitants.
Greenest is the only sizable town along the Uldoon Trail in the Greenfields area of the Western Heartlands, making it an important stop for trade caravans bound for the Sword Coast.
The Keep: A stone keep sits in the center of town. The town council and governor conduct town buisness from the great hall, but most of the space in the keep is dedicated to defense. The dwarf Escobert the Red is the castellan, and commands a small retinue to soldiers, as well as local militiamen.
Temple of Chauntea: Most of the townsfolk worship Chauntea, so this fieldstone building is the tallest in town. The half-elf Eadyan Falconmoon is the temple’s priest.
The Gilded Goat: This large inn caters to merchant caravans, offering ample stable space and large guest rooms. The food is reasonably tasty and the ale is cheap and plentiful (if a bit watered down). A pair of middle aged human brothers—Tonan and Rel—and their families operate the Goat. The inn sits on the edge of the town market square.
Graveyard: The graveyard sits about a half-mile east of town, and has a tiny shrine to Kelemvor.
